Essential India was established in 1997.

Having lived and worked in India for many years, we have frequently seen some of the negative environmental and cultural impacts that foreign tourism can bring. At Essential India, we are making every effort to minimise any adverse impact that our business may have and, as importantly, to maximise the benefits.

The workshop holidays are primarily centred in the state of Himachal Pradesh in northern India. The Butterworth?s family home is in the foothills of the Himalaya. With a family connection to India dating back seven generations, the Butterworth?s have currently been leading and organising tours in this region for over 20 years.

You can combine any of our holidays, extend your visit or travel independently if you wish.
