Traveling via London's Heathrow or Gatwick Airport, meet our group for our first night in Bath, then travel to the peaceful Cornish town of Bude. We're perched in a cliffside Victorian hotel from a bygone time, in the domain of Thomas Hardy, Rosamund Pilcher and Daphne duMaurier. Right outside the hotel door is a grass footpath for walking the headland overlooking the Atlantic. Our two-night stay here includes a visit to Tintagel, home of the legendary Arthur and his knights of Camelot. We'll explore Bodmin Moor, with its Bronze Age settlements, burial chambers and holy wells, reminders of Cornwall?s rich heritage. The moor is also home to ?Jamaica Inn?, made famous by Daphne du Maurier?s novel. Next we travel down to the sunny south, to spend a few days exploring Falmouth, Land's End, Penzance and St. Ives. The area is rich in history, culture and natural beauty. Depending on the interests of our group, we can visit the Lost Gardens of Heligan, the Eden Project, or one of many country house gardens that abound in the region. Of course we will partake of at least one traditional Cornish cream tea, maybe more! And a quest for the best genuine Cornish pasty will be a rewarding task. In St. Ives we visit the ultramodern Tate Gallery St. Ives, and the adjacent museum (former home) of renowned sculptor Barbara Hepworth. For the browsers among us, shops are filled with antiques, artwork, local crafts, homemade jellies and honey. Our route back toward London takes us to the medieval city of Salisbury, and a chance to see Stonehenge or the even bigger stones of Avebury. Optional add-on: We can arrange a two-night apartment stay and planned itinerary in London at the end of the trip. Interested? Contact us with questions or to make a deposit.
